How do Extra Bucks work at CVS?
CVS ExtraBucks rewards — often called “More Care Buckets” or ECBs — are store rewards you earn on select weekly deals. When you buy an eligible item, you pay out of pocket at the register, and CVS prints (or sends to your app) an ECB coupon at the end of your transaction. This ECB works like cash on your next purchase, with a few exceptions (eg, you can’t use it on stamps or gift cards).
How it works in practice:
- Buy the right things.
- Redeem ECBs on your receipt or in your app.
- Use those ECBs to pay for your next transaction.
- Roll over your ECBs to keep out-of-pocket costs low.

How do I start shopping for CVS deals?
To start, you can check your local ad or return to this post and find out what product you need to buy that week, which will use the coupon and generate ECB for the purchase price you paid. Once you’ve purchased an item, you’ll receive an ECB at the bottom of your receipt (or sent to you in the app), which you can use as cash for your next transaction, thus making that item, in effect, “free.”
