MIMHC and Mortgage Strategy unveil ‘Movement to Move’ – Mortgage Strategy

The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC), in partnership with Mortgage Strategy, has officially launched ‘Movement to Move’ – a new campaign designed to promote greater physical activity and support mental health throughout the mortgage industry.
It’s a new industry-wide initiative that encourages people in the mortgage industry to prioritize physical fitness through regular exercise.
The program aims to encourage people and organizations across all sectors to embrace movement in a way that works for them, whether that means walking, running, cycling, swimming, going to the gym or simply getting away from their desk for a short break.
Movement to Move will build on the growing momentum created by MIMHC’s existing health activities, which include monthly clubs, Walk & Talk events and fundraising challenges. This program will encourage people to share their experiences, inspire their colleagues and create a more open conversation about the important connection between physical and mental health.
Although the campaign will celebrate the work done on the first Thursday of each month, its message is clear: movement is important every day.
In partnership with Mortgage Strategy, the program will use existing industry and community forums to showcase stories, successes and practical ways in which firms and individuals can embed healthy practices into their systems.
Strava’s free community will also provide an opportunity for people from all walks of life to connect, encourage each other and celebrate their progress, regardless of their level of activity.
Commenting MIMHC founder Jason Berry said: “Movement to Move isn’t about being the fastest runner, strongest cyclist or achieving a personal best. It’s about recognizing that regular movement can have a huge positive impact on our mental well-being, helping us manage stress, improve our mood and create valuable moments of connection with others.”
“The mortgage industry is full of passionate, hard-working people who often put the needs of others before their own. With Movement to Move, we want to give everyone permission to put themselves first, even if that means taking a short trip during the work day. If we can encourage more conversation, more communication and more movement, we believe the impact on our entire industry can be huge.”
Mortgage Strategy commercial director James Prosser added: “Mortgage Strategy is proud to support the launch of Movement to Move.
“What makes this campaign so powerful is its accessibility. You don’t need special equipment or a certain level of fitness to participate. Movement means different things to different people, and by celebrating participation in all its forms, we hope to inspire lasting behavioral change across the industry.”
Georgia Smith, Health Advocate at Buckinghamshire Building Society and lead community volunteer for Movement to Move Strava, said:
“One of the best things about exercise is that it brings people together. Whether you’re taking your first walk, training for a marathon or just looking for a little motivation, the Strava community will be there to offer encouragement and celebrate every success. I’m happy to support community leaders and help create a welcoming environment where everyone feels like they belong.”
Movement to Move will encourage individuals to engage on social media, share photos and stories of their activities, and participate in the free Strava community, where members can connect with colleagues, encourage each other and track their journeys together.
The launch reflects MIMHC’s continued commitment to delivering health prevention programs alongside comprehensive mental health support available across the sector.
Since its inception, MIMHC has grown to include hundreds of signatory organizations, collectively reaching tens of thousands of people working across the real estate industry. Through awareness campaigns, Mental Health First Aid training, fundraising and community activities, the organization continues to strive for a healthier and more supportive workplace.
The message behind Movement to Move is simple:
“Move More. Connect More. Feel Better.”
