- Theo of Golden — I read it last year and loved it. A story of giving and receiving, seeing and being seen, Theo of Golden is an unforgettable novel about the power of giving, the importance of connection, and the quiet miracles that happen when we choose kindness and wonder.
- The Blooming Years – This one is slow and explores the underbelly and coming out of addiction in a very raw and real way. And it’s not from a Christian perspective and it’s dirty, but I thought there were a lot of really redemptive ideas and insights in it to help us better understand the weight of hurt that many carry and how it can impact their daily lives in ways we can’t imagine.
- The Nightingale — I read this one a long time ago and am currently re-reading it because I love it so much.
- Women — I really liked this book and highly recommend it. The story of one woman who went to war, but it shines a light on all women who take risks and sacrifice their commitment to their country.
- A reporter – This starts off slow (it’s a literary novel) but ends up touching. I found it very insightful and would definitely recommend it. I have heard that the audiobook is very well narrated.
- Frozen River — This was a really interesting historical novel based on a true story. I found it sad to hear that women had absolutely no voice during this time. If you like historical fiction, I recommend this book.
- Remarkably Bright Creatures – This book completely surprised me how much I loved it and grew attached to the clever characters in it – including the octopus! In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I bought a copy to finish reading instead of listening to it! I don’t often do that, so you know I loved the book. If you enjoy narrative fiction from high places that span a wide range of ages and interests, definitely check this book out.
- The Great One – This book is in my top 20 audiobooks I’ve listened to and vividly portrays the harsh, isolating life in Alaska.
- The giver – I rarely re-read books, but every once in a while, I enjoy a book enough to read it again. This was one such book. It’s interesting and makes you think on a deeper level.
